Impossible to repel the human tide. The revelers have always been present by the thousands since Thursday evening in Villegongis, a small village in Indre, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Teknival, the high mass of techno music, the last edition of which dates back to 2019, before the health crisis. The number of “teufeurs” present on a private plot of 70 hectares, uncultivated fields, was 15,000 to 20,000 in the evening.
And that should increase this Friday and during the weekend. “We anticipate that participation should increase in successive waves (…). The Teknival could last until Monday, ”said the prefect, Stéphane Bredin.
Several injuries to deplore
Taken by surprise by this gathering, theoretically prohibited by two prefectural decrees, neither the town hall of Villegongis – 110 inhabitants – nor the local authorities were able to organize themselves to supervise such a surge of participants, who came from all over France and even from the stranger. A command center was however set up on Thursday morning in the town, with “an operational advanced medical post for 20 beds”. Approved associations also organize the presence of 25 to 35 volunteers on the festival site.
According to France Bleu, a man would be in absolute emergency after an accident involving a vehicle. In addition, the prefecture reports about fifteen injured since the start of the event.
