A few days ago, the PlayStation Store started a huge sale with its January offers, offering more than 3000 deals for PS4 and PS5. We already had you at the start ten highlights among the current hits from 2022 picked out, this time it’s the turn of games between €10 and €20, before next time we dedicate ourselves to particularly cheap bargains under €10. The eighth part of the Resident Evil series follows on from its predecessor in that we once again take on the role of Ethan Winters from the first-person perspective. All he really wanted was to lead a quiet life with his wife and child. When the latter is kidnapped, however, Ethan goes in search of him, which leads him to a small Romanian village. There he gets to deal with opponents that are rather atypical for a Resident Evil, such as vampires and werewolves. Compared to Resident Evil 7, the survival horror has been scaled back a bit, but the shooter portion is larger. Resident Evil Village also offers great staging, more variety in locations, and interesting characters that are at times scary and quirky.

The indie hit It Takes Two, which won Game of the Year at last year’s Game Awards, is a co-op only game played either locally or online for two players. We take on the roles of a married couple who actually want to get a divorce, but are magically transformed into little dolls and are now forced to go through various adventures together to get their old bodies back. In addition to a nice presentation in the style of an animated film, It Takes Two is characterized above all by its playful variety. While it’s essentially an action-platformer, it keeps making forays into other genres, from fighting games to flight sims.

In terms of play, pretty much everything is offered that you can expect from the scenario. In addition to robberies and wild gunfights, there are also sneak passages and quieter sections in which we explore the area on horseback, admire its many details or pursue the many side activities such as playing cards.

The Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection contains Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End as well as Uncharted: The Lost Legacy in a PS5 version that offers 4K resolution, among other things. Uncharted is the worthy conclusion to the story about the daredevil Nathan Drake, who is again taking the search for a legendary treasure around the world. Among other things, it goes to New Orleans, Madagascar, Italy and Scotland. Diablo 2: Resurrected gives the action RPG classic a graphic makeover and technically upgrades it to the PS4 generation. But that doesn’t change the isometric perspective or the gameplay: We slice our way through masses of monsters and demons in different regions and explore dark dungeons, with the focus on leveling up our character and looking for better and better equipment. This still ensures a high level of long-term motivation. Since the extensive Lord of Destruction expansion is included, there are a total of seven very different character classes to choose from, each requiring their own playstyle.

You can get Resident Evil 2 and 3 together in the Raccoon City Edition for only €17.99. If you have PS Plus, there is an extra discount and you only pay €14.99. Both games are remakes of the horror classics on a completely new technical basis, which not only offer contemporary graphics on PS4 level, but also heavily modernized controls and camera work. Resident Evil 2 is still basically true to the original and offers good old survival horror with limited ammo and limited inventory space. In comparison, the new Resident Evil 3 is much more action-packed and not quite as faithful to the original, but the more elaborately staged.

With the Tomb Raider Definitive Survivor Trilogy, you get all three parts of the reboot trilogy, with all the additional content and technical improvements that also come with the Definitive Editions of each game. The first part, originally from 2013, which lets us experience how the young Lara Croft becomes a hardened adventuress, is relatively action-packed and in parts resembles a third-person shooter. Rise of the Tomb Raider, which takes us to icy Siberia, puts a little more emphasis on climbing and exploring tombs. Shadow of the Tomb Raider is the darkest of the three parts, as here Lara not only battles the terrifying undead, but also her inner demons.

Like its predecessors, Borderlands 3 is again a brightly colored first person shooter that you can play alone or in online co-op. Similar to Diablo 2, the search for ever better weapons and equipment is in the foreground. The quirky humor doesn’t hit quite as well this time, also because a charismatic villain like Handsome Jack is missing. But there are clear advances in scope and visual variety. Because this time we travel with our own spaceship to wide, open areas on different planets. Also, character development is more complex, we can now choose between different skills in all classes.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 review: Finally as good as it used to be!

With Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2, two of the best and most successful skateboard games of all time have been remastered. Graphically, the two games originally released for PS1 have been updated, but not much has changed in terms of gameplay. That’s a good thing, because the gameplay is still a lot of fun: on 17 different skate courses, we try to create as many tricks and combos as possible within just two minutes in order to break the high score. Alternatively, you can also practice without time pressure in the free skate mode. A highlight is once again the great soundtrack. In addition to many hits from back then, there are also some new titles.

The third part of the open-world series Watch Dogs has a special trick: We don’t have a fixed protagonist, but switch between different members of the resistance group Dedsec. In principle, we can recruit any resident of the metropolis of London, in which we let off steam this time, for our group, with many of them bringing special skills or equipment with them. However, anyone who dies in action is lost forever. As usual, we have a lot of creative options at our disposal when completing our missions, since we can manipulate our environment through hacking and also use many high-tech gadgets to help.
