“The tank is empty”… Emilien Jacquelin is already ending his disappointing season

It is “with sadness, but appeasement” that Emilien Jacquelin announced this Wednesday morning on Instagram that he was ending his Biathlon World Cup season. “The tank is empty”, summed up the double silver medalist at the 2022 Olympics. “While there are still three World Cup events to go, Emilien, currently 10th in the provisional general classification dominated by Johannes Boe, no longer considers himself able to practice his sport as he wishes, that is to say at the highest level and able to play titles, ”also explained his communication agency.

“A lack of physical and mental freshness prevents him from sublimating himself and practicing his discipline with the desired level of excellence”, specifies the press release, which comes three days after the end of the biathlon world championships disputed in Oberhof (Germany). ).

Aged 27, Emilien Jacquelin is having a disappointing season, far from his fifth place in the general classification of the World Cup in 2020 and 2022. If he won gold at the Worlds on Saturday with the French men’s relay, he passed across all the individual races (36th in the sprint, 37th in the individual and 20th in the mass start), and he was not aligned with the pursuit. A long rest can therefore not hurt him, before hoping for a better tomorrow next season.
