The Talking Heads concert film “Stop Making Sense” returns to the cinema – Munich

Everything comes back, in music, in fashion, in correspondence with the tax office. It’s not really surprising that Jonathan Demme’s concert film “Stop Making Sense” is showing in cinemas again after 40 years, digitally restored and with Dolby Atmos sound technology. Demme (who would later have a feature film career with “The Silence of the Lambs” and “Philadelphia”) filmed three concerts Talking Headsyou can hear hits like “This must be the Place”, “Once in a Lifetime” and of course the indestructible “Burning down the House”.

The eighties are currently being rediscovered anyway, the time for one Talking Heads-Revival seems favorable: stars like Miley Cyrus, Lorde or The National have recorded songs for a tribute album; luxury labels such as Balenciaga and Saint Laurent currently have oversized suits like the ones David Byrne wears in the film. The only question that remains is: Will there also be a band comeback? At the Toronto 2023 festival, Tina Weymouth, Jerry Harrison, Chris Frantz and David Byrne Although they did interviews together, they ruled out a reunion.
