“The Super Noses” are coming back. Thomas Gottschalk and Mike Krüger will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the films. You must know these facts.
The two “Supernasen” stars Thomas Gottschalk (72) and Mike Krüger (70) can be seen together on RTL on August 20 from 8:15 p.m. The two entertainers are honored with the big anniversary show “40 years of super noses – with Mike Krüger & Thomas Gottschalk”. The first comedy of the four-part series hit theaters in 1982. “Pirate Station Powerplay” was followed in 1983 by “Die Supernasen”. “Zwei Nase tanken Super” was published in 1984, followed by the last part “Die Einsteiger”. Overall, the strips attracted more than ten million viewers to the cinemas in the 80s.

The name of the well-known film series is no coincidence. The so-called “super nose” films are an allusion to the distinctive noses of the two main actors. Gottschalk’s wife Thea (76) is said to have had the idea for the unusual name. “In 1982, our friend and film producer Karli Spiehs came up with the glorious idea of shooting a feature film with me and Thomas Gottschalk in the leading roles,” explains Krüger, who has become known as a singer on his website the making of the films that were less well received by the critics than by the public. “Back then, the German cinema landscape was pretty much on the rocks, so we were able to shoot the most successful German films for four years.” An important part of the “Supernasen” series is missing from the 40th anniversary: The Austrian film and series producer Karl Spiehs, who, in addition to “Die Supernasen”, also launched the cult series “Ein Schloss am Wörthersee”, is at the beginning of the year passed away at the age of 90.
Film is related to reality
In the first film in the series, friends Tommy and Mike regularly broadcast their own program as pirate radio stations in order to defy the boring public broadcasting program. The world of radio is not far removed from Gottschalk’s true career. He began his career as a radio presenter in the 1970s at Bayerischer Rundfunk. He was often criticized by his superiors. The reason for this was his relaxed manner, but due to his success with the listeners, the young entertainer had a certain special position. Private broadcasting was only introduced in Germany in 1984. So there really was a desire for change.
Thea Gottschalk played small supporting roles
Gottschalk’s wife starred in three of her husband’s films. Thea Gottschalk was seen as “Princess Fatima” in “Die Supernasen”, as “Gangster boss Tamara” in “Zwei Nase tanken Super” and as “Countess Frackstein” in “Die Einsteiger”. The two met in 1972 and married in 1976. In the first half of the 90s, the Gottschalks moved to the USA with their two sons. The couple wanted to avoid public interest in their private lives. In 2019, the two announced their separation.
They are real friends
Krüger and Gottschalk not only have a long history and a common career in common: they are also very good friends. The two have a lot in common. “We don’t pretend. We’re at home just like we are on stage,” Krüger told the “Golden Camera” in June. The success is no coincidence. “People like Thomas and me, not because we make a big splash, but because we give them something to laugh about.”

For the anniversary, the “super noses” not only board the TV, but also the cinema screen again. “The Supernasen Fan Event for the 40th Anniversary” will only be shown once in Germany on September 18th in cinemas. Fans can look forward to a look behind the scenes as well as brand new interviews and gags with Thomas Gottschalk, Mike Krüger and actor and director Otto Retzer (76). Impressions from the big Supernasen anniversary party of the production company Lisa Film in mid-June at Wörthersee will also be shown.
