The State will regroup 800 of its agents in an “exemplary” building at 51 million euros

Delivery is expected in a year. On the island of Nantes, boulevard Vincent-Gâche, an ambitious real estate project worth 51 million euros is in the process of emerging from the ground. it’s about the new administrative city of Nantes, which will bring together over 14,000 m2 some 800 State agents currently spread over around ten sites. And in particular those of the current New Administration House (MAN), opened 50 years ago a few hundred meters away, or those of Public Finances, installed in premises in the Euronantes district after having moved of the Brittany tower.

Departmental directorate for employment, labor and solidarity, air and border police, center of expertise and resources for prefecture titles… building described as “exemplary” in terms of environmental transition, with the promise of energy consumption reduced by two thirds. “Priority will be given to natural light, in particular thanks to the large windows, explains project architect Bruno Gaudin. There will be no air conditioner, it is the architecture of the building and its facade that will do the job. The modular building will only offer 15% of individual offices, compared to 40 traditionally.

Equipped with interior courtyards, small gardens and green terraces, the three-storey building should therefore contrast with the tertiary constructions of recent decades. A total of 1,400 public officials will be gathered on this site, which already houses the departmental directorate for the protection of populations. One operation among others in France which will also allow the State, tenant or owner depending on the site, to free up land and, therefore, to collect revenue. The land of the current New Administration House, rue Viviani, could thus be sold to the metropolis.
