The social network MYM launches its paid live, a “key tool” to change dimension

The ascent continues. A newcomer to the French Tech 120, which brings together the 120 most promising French start-ups, the MYM social network is about to take another step. The platform, which allows creators to generate direct revenue through their content, will launch its live function this Wednesday.

“As such, there is nothing revolutionary about it, it is nevertheless a key tool,” smiles Pierre Garonnaire, one of the two founders. “This will allow influencers to monetize their audience even more, especially since these live shows are eagerly awaited by their community,” he explains. Because these contents will be, like the rest, paying. This is the particularity of the social network. This is also what makes the difference with other competitors such as Instagram or Tik Tok.

Up to 3 hours live

“The feature will allow up to three hours of live,” says Gaspard Hafner, co-founder of MYM. Concerts, live shopping, masterclasses, more intimate moments in the studio, sports or beauty advice, yoga or dance classes, everything will cost money. Only paying subscribers will have access to content. As for the price, it will again be freely set by the influencer. Between 10 and 50 euros for a “reasonable” range.

“It’s really an additional boost that can allow each creator to double their income”, continues Pierre Garonnaire. But the company does not hide it, it is also a way for it to reach “another dimension” by attracting renowned artists from the music scene, who have not been present until now. A springboard also for crunching market share in Europe. So far, 80% of platform users are French.

120 million turnover for 2022

Launched in Lyon in 2019 by two childhood friends, MYM quickly found its audience, shaking up market codes. Eight million fans identified today, four million content published in 2021. A turnover of 60 million euros and 40 million euros donated to creators who can thus earn 30,000 euros per month, or even 150,000 for more productive. “Our ambition for 2022 is to double all these figures,” adds Gaspard, confirming that we are aiming for 120 million in turnover by the end of the year.

Another novelty: it will now be possible to pay for your subscription in cryptocurrency. A first again. Finally, the start-up is considering raising funds. Something she had never done before. “To develop in the United States”, concludes Pierre Garonnaire.
