The number of Covid-19 patients in intensive care continues to decline slowly, as does that of all hospitalized patients, according to figures from Public Health France. This Saturday, the critical care services (which bring together resuscitation, intensive care and continuous monitoring) welcomed 5,005 patients, against 5,106 on Friday.

This indicator, monitored very closely by the health authorities, is slowly moving away from the bar of 6,000 patients exceeded on April 26, and from the alarming peak of the first wave of spring 2020 (about 7,000 patients). In 24 hours, 191 new patients with severe forms of Covid-19 were admitted to intensive care units, against 269 the day before.

This downward trend is also observed for all hospitalizations, with a total of Covid-19 patients amounting to 25,800, against 26,331 on Friday. Over 24 hours, 844 patients were admitted to hospitals this Saturday, against 1,140 the day before.

The disease has claimed 176 people in hospital in the past 24 hours, up from 227 on Friday. The figures for new contaminations and vaccinations were not yet available at the end of the afternoon.
