For once, the positive won’t mean bad news. The health situation linked to the coronavirus seems to be improving in the Alpes-Maritimes. This Tuesday, the incidence rate indicates 417 positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants when, just before the local and partial containment at the end of February, it had reached a record of 577 people infected with Covid-19 per 100,000 inhabitants.

The positivity rate, the percentage of positive cases in relation to the number of tests, is also falling. For several weeks, it had stagnated around 8%. According to the latest report from the Regional Health Agency (ARS) Paca, it rose to 6.6% on Tuesday in the Alpes-Maritimes. Nearly 69,000 screening tests were carried out from March 29 to April 4 in the department, with more than 6,000 tests per 100,000 inhabitants in the Paca region, “levels never reached before”, specifies the ARS.

Almost 20% of the Maralpine population vaccinated

Still positive on the side of vaccinations. The Alpes-Maritimes department has one of the highest vaccination rates in France, just behind Southern Corsica, with nearly 20% of its population having received at least one injection of the Covid-19 vaccine.

In the hospitals of the department, the occupancy rate by Covid-19 patients of intensive care beds is decreasing. According to the ARS report, it is 78.6% on Tuesday. Last week it stood at 87.1%. Data to be put into perspective since the organization indicates that “559 patients are currently in critical care [dans la région], a number higher than those observed during the peaks of the first and second waves ”. This hospital tension since the fall has necessitated the creation of “300 additional resuscitation beds” in these departments.
