A year ago, Moosbach mayor Bettina Maurer (Anke Engelke) and businessman Martin Hofmann (Matthias Brandt) were locked in the anteroom of the local savings bank on New Year’s Eve. A short circuit had disabled the ATM and also the branch’s automatic door, which is why those locked up had to deal with the sudden proximity to which they were suddenly exposed, so shortly before the New Year. The bank branch as a prison, but also as a protective space. Sudden familiarity as a burden, as a challenge – but also as a gift. And like Engelke and Brandt in their first TV work together, the half-hour Short circuit, which made this ambivalence noticeable, was a small television event at the end of 2022. Now it is experiencing its half-hour sequel: The second short circuit.
