The SCO dismisses Ilyes Chetti, convicted of sexual assault

The Angers club announced on Tuesday the dismissal of Algerian international Ilyes Chetti, sentenced two months ago for sexual assault. In a one line statementthe club said it had made this decision “taking into account the facts alleged and recognized by the latter”.

Aged 28, Chetti was given a four-month suspended prison sentence in April after a young woman complained of touching during a nightclub party. He had admitted the facts.

At the origin of the departure of Abdel Bouhazama

Very little used throughout the season – he only came into play in six games – Chetti indirectly caused the departure of his former coach Abdel Bouhazama, who had minimized the aggression. “It’s not bad, we’ve all already touched girls,” said the coach in a pre-match chat in early March, before being forced to resign when his comments appeared in the press.

The Angers club, which will be relegated to Ligue 2 next season, is also subject to a recruitment ban for the next two transfer window periods due to a dispute over the arrival of Chetti last summer. . His former club, Espérance de Tunis, disputes the termination which had allowed him to engage free in Angers. The SCO seized the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
