A controlled design and screen
The Samsung Galaxy S21 FE has almost the same appearance as the classic S21, except that a few aluminum elements have been removed to make way for all-plastic and bring the price down a little better. Plastic here is not synonymous with cheap or junk because it allows here a better grip since the smartphone is lighter. However, it is necessary to provide a shell because this plastic tends to scratch easily. In addition, the S21 FE proves to be robust with its IP68 certification.
It is especially with its 6.4-inch screen that the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE will please you. It is an AMOLED panel in Full HD + definition (2340 x 1080 pixels) and with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, so you will have a fluid and pleasant screen to watch for browsing or watching videos. Especially since it boasts excellent colorimetry and brightness reaching 700 cd / m² in addition to its infinite contrast ratio. Finally, the screen is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus.
Powerful in multitasking and in photos
While the classic S21 runs on Samsung’s in-house processor, the Exynos 2100, the South Korean manufacturer turned to Qualcomm and its Snapdragon 888 for the S21 FE. What does this change? Not much actually. If the S21 FE, which has 6 GB of RAM, does better than the classic version in terms of raw performance and multitasking, it manages gaming less well and has also suffered some difficulties while running Fortnite at 60 FPS during our test.
Finally, its photo module delivers good quality shots and not only thanks to the 12 Mpx main sensor, the 12 Mpx ultra-wide-angle and the 8 Mpx x3 telephoto lens also do a good job despite poor dynamic management against the light. The S21 FE may have intended to hit the mark with its 32 Mpx front sensor, but it turns out to be less good than expected. Finally, the autonomy is a little disappointing, the 4500 mAh battery is only able to last a day with moderate use.
