The new Rolling Stones album Hackney Diamonds will be released on October 20th. What is known so far about the work and the guest stars involved.

They’ve been together for a whole 18 years Rolling Stones left time to record a regular new album again. Her latest work is called “Hackney Diamonds” and will be released on October 20th. At a spectacular PR event in London yesterday, September 6th, the music legends presented their first single and gave details of the guest stars involved. Among others there: superstar Lady Gaga (37) and soul legend Stevie Wonder (73).

Broadcast media event in YouTube live stream worldwide

For their press event at the “Hackney Empire”, a theater in the London district of Hackney, the Stones had US cult moderator Jimmy Fallon (48) flown in, who was supposed to bring additional impetus to the event with his moderation. The appointment was also broadcast worldwide in a YouTube live stream.

The venue in the former working-class district of Hackney was not chosen without reason – after all, the title of the new album refers to the once rough area in London’s East End. “Hackney Diamonds” is the local Cockney slang for the pieces of glass that glitter like jewels in the parking lot after a car break-in. As the band revealed, “Hit and Run” and “Smash and Grab” were also previously in the game as title variants.

Video for single “Angry” with actress Sydney Sweeney

At the media event, the band presented that Video for their first pre-single “Angry” in which the young actress Sydney Sweeney (25, “Euphoria”) lolls in a skimpy leather outfit on the back seat of a red convertible, while various stage videos of the Stones from all phases of their career flicker on large advertising posters along their route. Host Fallon explained that it’s an old Stones tradition to feature one of the “hottest actresses” of the time in their videos.

Mick Jagger: “We were very lazy”

About the creation of the new album, singer Mick Jagger (80) revealed: “We were very lazy. Maybe we were a bit too lazy. So we said: Let’s set a deadline and make an album.” After the first recordings in Keith Richards’ (79) studio in Jamaica, we went to New York for further work. “We got a producer,” Jagger explained, “Andy Watt. He kicked our ass.”

Drummer Charlie Watts, who died in August 2021, will still be heard on two of the twelve new songs. Drummer Steve Jordan (66), who was on the 60th band anniversary tour last year, replaced him for the remaining pieces. “Everything is different without Charlie,” commented Keith Richards. “The number four is missing, he’s up there.” Before his death, Charlie Watts instructed the band: “If anything happens to me, Steve Jordan is your man.”

Lady Gaga and Stevie Wonder on new album

in one Interviewed by Sky News“, which was conducted after the event in Hackney, Mick Jagger and Ron Wood (76) revealed that the album featured singer Lady Gaga and soul musician Stevie Wonder. It was also previously confirmed that ex-Stones bassist Bill Wyman (86) and ex-Beatle Paul McCartney (81) were in the studio.
