The RN wants to forget its procrastination on pension reform

Accused of being vague on its economic program, the RN is trying to silence criticism by providing details on the measures it will take in the event of victory in the legislative elections. The pension reform raising the legal age to 64 will thus be “repealed in the fall after consultation with social and economic partners,” said outgoing MP Jean-Philippe Tanguy on BFMTV on Monday.

To justify this delay of a few months, the outgoing RN deputy from the Somme affirmed that “no government can arrive in place right during the Olympics and repeal a reform by causing chaos in the administration”. A way of giving a timetable, after the procrastination of its leader Jordan Bardella who had deemed this subject “important”, but not “priority”. While distinguishing themselves from the left united under the banner of the New Popular Front, which promises to repeal the Macron reform from the summer.

Bardella puts an end to the hesitation of the last days

The RN defends “the reform which had been proposed by Marine Le Pen, namely that people who started working early, before the age of 20, subject to a certain number of quarters obviously, will be able to leave before the age of 60”, said specified Jean-Philippe Tanguy. Those who started their career after 20 years will be able to retire “between 60 and 62 years old depending on the annuities completed”, but “if you have not contributed enough it will always be 65 years old”, he added, putting forward a cost of 9 billion euros for this reform.

Jordan Bardella also wanted to put an end to his party’s few days of hesitation on this reform. It “will be repealed from the fall”, he confirmed in an interview with Parisian published Monday evening.

This zigzag since the announcement of the dissolution illustrates the contortions of the RN, now allied with the president of LR Éric Ciotti and who has made a rapprochement with the ex-zemmourist Marion Maréchal. These two political figures had spoken out in favor of the reform carried out by the Borne government and whose liberal accents contrasted with the economic line of the National Rally.

Monday evening, Éric Ciotti also estimated on 8 p.m. on France 2 that “it (was) not said that the pension reform will be repealed”, referring to the “room for maneuver which will be given” by an audit of public finances. “It is the RN which leads this coalition,” replied Jordan Bardella dryly.
