The risk of flooding in Bavaria is increasing again – the Danube and Iller are particularly affected – Bavaria

After heavy rainfall, especially in southern Bavaria, the risk of flooding on many rivers in the Free State is increasing again. In particular, the water levels in streams and rivers that flow into the Danube from the south have recently risen significantly, the flood intelligence service announced on Friday.

On the Iller, for example, reporting level two could be reached in the middle of the week, and minor flooding in undeveloped areas would then be possible. Flooding is also to be expected on the Danube itself – during Friday in the region around Ulm, and on Saturday east of Ingolstadt.

The Kelheim district assumed on Friday that reporting level three could also be reached there on Saturday. Flooding in built-up areas would then also be possible. “The water level on the Danube is expected to remain at a high level until the beginning of the week,” said the district office.

The German Weather Service expected unsettled weather in the Free State for the weekend. After a short phase of sunshine in many regions on Saturday morning, it is expected to rain again and again, and heavily in the Alps. On Sunday it should be at least a little milder than last, with temperatures of up to 13 degrees.
