Aurélie Vaquier’s companion remains in pre-trial detention. In a judgment delivered on Thursday, the investigating chamber of the Montpellier Court of Appeal (Hérault) rejected the request for the release of the man, indicted for aggravated murder, as part of the investigation into the death of the young woman, indicates this Thursday Raphaël Balland, the public prosecutor of Béziers (Hérault).

The suspect, who will be kept behind bars while the investigations of the gendarmes continue, assures that there is nothing to do with the death of his companion.

The formally identified body

Disappeared for several weeks, the thirty-something was found on April 7 under a concrete slab, at the marital home in Bédarieux. This Thursday, the Béziers prosecutor reports that the genetic expertise, ordered by the examining magistrate, “made it possible to confirm with certainty that the body found” is that of Aurélie Vaquier.

“Several tattoos, including one bearing the name of an old cat” had specified the prosecutor at a press conference, however, hardly left any doubt as to the identification of the body found by the gendarmes in the apartment.
