“The Republic will never bend in the face of terrorism,” insists Elisabeth Borne

The Prime Minister went this Monday to the Bois d’Aulne college in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, in Yvelines. It is in this establishment that the teacher Samuel Paty was killed in an Islamist attack three years ago to the day, like Dominique Bernard on Friday in Arras. “The Republic will never bend in the face of terrorism,” assured Élisabeth Borne.

“Three years later, the pain is still strong. Three years later, barbarism and obscurantism have struck again” but “barbarism will never prevail in the face of knowledge, the Republic will never give in to terrorism,” declared the Prime Minister before participating, with the Minister of National Education Gabriel Attal, at the minute of silence organized throughout the country in tribute to these two teachers.

“Everything possible” to protect schools

After this moment of contemplation, the head of government spoke with the students of the college, before speaking with the teachers. “Are you worried? », asked Élisabeth Borne to the students. “Yes,” replied a young girl.

“I can assure you that the government is putting measures in place,” continued the Prime Minister. In her speech, she assured that the government was doing “everything possible” to protect educational establishments. “We are responding,” she added.
