The reinstatement of the deputy to LFI took place after a “too short” period, judge Clémentine Autain

MP LFI Clémentine Autain estimated on Sunday that her colleague Adrien Quatennens had been reinstated in his group in the Assembly after a “too short” period of four months following his conviction for violence against his ex-companion.

“Now there has been a decision” with a vote of the LFI deputies in favor of his reinstatement, “under democratic conditions”, and “I must respect it”, continued the elected representative of Seine-Saint-Denis .

“A story that has divided us enormously”

Adrien Quatennens was reinstated this week after the four-month period initially envisaged, a decision which was deemed “unacceptable” by many allies within Nupes. Even within La France insoumise, “it’s a story that from the start has divided us enormously”, with “often a generational divide”, underlined Clémentine Autain, the “youngest militant executives” being the most opposed to his return.

Since the start of the affair in September, the subject has crystallized tensions, especially after controversial tweets of support from Jean-Luc Mélenchon, to whom Adrien Quatennens is very close. “How are we going to heal this fracture? Certainly not by sitting on feminist principles, but by trying to convince and get things done,” added the MP.

She repeated her proposal “of a working group within Nupes, in which there are not only men”, in order to think about sanctions, reparations, and not to be “disoriented at each case”.
