After a first revaluation last January, the Ministry of the Economy and Finance this time chose the lower range.

The decision was expected by December 15, it is now official: the rate of new Home savings plans (PEL) will increase from 2% to 2.25% from 1er January 2024, affirms this Thursday morning at Figaro the Ministry of the Economy and Finance, confirming information from RMC. “This rate applies to all PELs opened from 1er January, the rate being fixed over the duration of the PEL according to the rate in force on the opening date, unlike the rate for the A booklet which is revised for all A booklets already opened», Underlines the executive.

If the forecasts were more for a rate of 2.5%, the Ministry of the Economy and Finance chose the lower range. Last January, the PEL had already been revalued, from 1 to 2%. To establish these new rates, the Banque de France bases itself on the “evolution of long-term interest rates“.

The PEL therefore remains below inflation and the Livret A rate, set at 3%. But after “an accumulation phase of at least four years», the ELP allows you to “recover your savings to which the annual rate is applied» from the booklet or even from “benefit from a property loan at a subsidized rate depending on the savings invested during the accumulation phase“. To date, the total outstanding PEL amounts to 301 billion euros, for 10.5 million holders.
