The Raid intervenes to dislodge a madman who threatened to “kill everyone”

Two columns from the Montpellier branch of the Raid (Research assistance intervention deterrence) intervened Monday evening in Nîmes, road to Avignon. The man, a former soldier, called the police to whom he made threats.

Taking the threat seriously given his profile, the police then cordoned off the area and called in the elite police unit. Known to the police, he would have a psychiatric history.

Two hours of negotiation

After two hours of negotiation, he was finally arrested without violence. No weapon was found after the search of his apartment. Residents were able to return to their homes in the evening.
