Rainer Hunold is leaving the popular ZDF crime series “The Prosecutor”. The 19th season starts on TV on February 16th.
Hunold is closely connected to ZDF
Hunold has played the role of Wiesbaden’s senior public prosecutor Bernd Reuther since 2005. The series regularly delights millions of viewers on Friday evenings. Hunold’s acting career is closely linked to the Mainz station. Among other things, he played the main roles in the popular ZDF series “A Case for Two” (1988-1997) and “Wie Pech und Sulfur” (1994-1997). Between 1980 and 1986 he appeared in various roles in the crime series “Der Alte”. He was also seen in “The Black Forest Clinic” (1985-1986) and on “Dream Ship” (1983).
What’s next for “The Prosecutor”?
The station is keeping a low profile as to whether there will be a future for the crime series “The Prosecutor” without Hunold. “We are already in discussions about the further development of the broadcast slot,” it continues. The station will broadcast the 19th season from February 16th. ZDF will show the eight new episodes of “The Public Prosecutor” on Fridays at 8:15 p.m., in the media library from February 9th. Filming for season 20 will start next spring – it is not yet clear exactly when these episodes will be broadcast.
