We’ve been talking about the PlayStation VR 2 for several months, knowing its characteristics and some of the games that will accompany the virtual reality headset of the PS5. But we were still waiting to have a release date and a price. We just got this information, and it could hurt.
With joysticks designed on the basis of the DualSense, OLED panels and 2000×2040 per eyea 90-120Hz refresh rate, a single cable, and a 110-degree field of view, the PSVR 2 does a very nice promise that we were able to try in September last.
The feedback is very positive, and the new generation headset seems to be taking a real step forward. Crowned with success, the first helmet remained relatively inefficient even if it was more accessible in terms of price. At the exit, players will be able to get their hands on Horizon: Call of the Mountain, Firewall Ultra, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners – Chapter 2: Retribution or a reworked version of No Man’s Sky and of Resident Evil Village.
The price of PSVR 2 revealed, it will hurt the wallet
Until today, the helmet was expected for “early 2023” without further details, in a price range that was estimated between 450 and 550€. In other words, we thought we were dealing with a headset cheaper than the PS5 or at its recommended retail price. The PlayStation VR 2 now has a price, and the players are naturally shocked, since it is simply more expensive than the PS5! Sony has just announced that the PSVR 2 will cost the sum of 599.99€, or 50 euros more than the PS5 and its new price. For that price, very high but twice as low as the beast of a race that is the Valve Indexplayers will receive a bundle containing the headset, PSVR 2 Sense controllers, and stereo headphones.
Alongside this pack, players will be able to purchase the official charging stationspecifically created for PSVR 2 Sense controllers and sold 49,99€. If you want to enjoy the headset immediately when it is released, a pack containing the headset, earphones, controllers and Horizon Call of The Mountain will be offered at €649.99.
When is PSVR 2 coming out?
But then, this PSVR 2, when does it come out? Sony has not postponed its release window, since it will arrive well at the start of 2023, February 22 to be precise !
