The prosecution opens an investigation for homicide in an organized gang after the murder of Bricarde



The Marseille prosecutor’s office announced on Tuesday the opening of an investigation for “organized murder” and “criminal association with a view to the commission of a crime”, after the death of a 26-year-old man on Monday evening .

The facts occurred in a bar located at the bottom of the city of La Bricarde, in the 15th arrondissement. At around 8:30 p.m., two people on scooters, helmets and dressed in black, got out of their vehicle to enter the bar, one of them firing on one of the men in the store near the neck, said Marseille prosecutor Dominique Laurens in a statement.

A man known to the justice services

“The victim, a 26-year-old man known to the justice services, died on the spot shortly after the arrival of the firefighters,” she added. She charged the judicial police with the investigation.

The second largest city in France has experienced a deadly summer, marked by an outbreak of violence in certain neighborhoods against a backdrop of competition for drug trafficking points. Investigators will need to determine whether this new homicide occurred in this context.

Since the beginning of the year, 15 people have died in settlements related to drug trafficking, according to the latest figures from the police headquarters, including twelve during the summer.
