According to information from Releasethe public prosecutor of Marseille asked the General Inspectorate of the National Police (IGPN) for a further investigation into the death of Souheil El Khalfaoui, killed on August 4 by a police officer in the Belle- de-Mai, in Marseille, during a roadside check.
Last December, the prosecution had first closed the investigation of the IGPN opened after the death of the young man aged 19 at the time of the events. The investigation carried out by the IGPN for “voluntary homicide” aimed to “determine the conditions of the opening of fire by one of the police officers”, and concluded with a “regulatory use”. The reopening of the file was done with the intervention of the lawyer of the family of the young man, Me Arié Alimi.
