The premiere of “Land” by Christoph Frick at the Münchner Kammerspiele – Munich

The farmers are currently taking to the streets to protest, as the world premiere of “Land” is being released at the Munich Kammerspiele. A coincidence. Director Christoph Frick tells of country life from three different times.

As a child, he passed the slaughterhouse in the morning on the way to school, says Christoph Frick. Then he saw the pigs being driven in. After school the picture was different and the dismembered animals came out again. At home there was also tripe or tongue. That was in the countryside near Stuttgart in the 1960s and 1970s, says Frick. Even though he didn’t come from a farming family himself, there were many around him. For example, he also remembers classmates who could be seen in the morning as having been beaten again. There are many memories that have accumulated. And if you take it seriously, Christoph Frick’s research for his new piece began back in his childhood.
