The prefecture prohibits a tribute to Pierre Sidos, founder of L’Œuvre française

Pierre Sidos is a figure of the Pétainist and nationalist extreme right, the founder of the Jeune Nation movement and then of L’Œuvre française, a notoriously anti-Semitic, Holocaust denier and neo-fascist organization. He died in 2020, and the group Les Nationalistes wanted to pay tribute to him through a rally scheduled for Saturday morning in Thiais (Val-de-Marne), but the police headquarters put the kibosh, announced via a tweet:

“Meet in Paris around the figure of chef Pierre Sidos for the three years of his disappearance”, had launched on his Instagram account the far-right group. The call had also been relayed on X by its president, Yvan Benedetti, a far-right figure, condemned on multiple occasions by the courts, in particular for Holocaust denial.

Yvan Benedetti had succeeded Pierre Sidos at the head of the French Work before the dissolution in 2013 of this openly anti-Semitic movement in the wake of the death in Paris of the far-left activist Clément Méric during a fight with small groups of ‘far right.
