The prefect of police threatens to ban a Dieudonné show

The show “La Cage aux fous”, in which Dieudonné and Francis Lalanne perform together, could be banned by the prefect of police. According to information from Parisian, Laurent Nuñez evokes “attacks on human dignity” in the text of the show, scheduled for September 14 at the Zenith in Paris. In a letter addressed to the comedian, the latter ensures that he reserves the right to prohibit the representation.

On reading the script, sent in June to the prefect of police in June, the latter noted several passages of the text, such as the characters of the Joker, Paprika, Eran or even a reference to Hitler, which would pose a problem according to The Parisian. The comedian’s lawyer denounces a form of censorship.

Complications from the Rugby World Cup

The prefect also underlines more pragmatic complications, which would be caused by the holding of the Rugby World Cup. At a time when the police will be mobilized for the security of this event, he fears clashes between people hostile to this representation and the supporters of the comedian.

Condemned on several occasions by the courts for public insults, apology for terrorism or even for anti-Semitic remarks, Dieudonné is now invited to present his observations to the services of the direction of public order, by August 31. The latter undertakes to delete the part of the text which poses a problem, and should submit to the prefect of police an amended version of his text in the coming days.
