The player remains in prison, his trial set for January 24, 2022

Detained since August 27 at Altcourse prison near Liverpool, Benjamin Mendy will stay there for at least several months. This Friday, the French international defender, accused of four rapes and a sexual assault between October 2020 and August 2021 and suspended by his Manchester City club, appeared in court in Chester.
Another preliminary hearing will be held at the same location on November 15, while his trial is scheduled for January 24, 2022, for two and a half weeks, according to Manchester Evening News.

Until then, Mendy (27) will remain detained, like a co-accused who appeared at the same time as him this Friday, reports the English daily. He is a 40-year-old man accused of four rapes. Neither of them spoke during the half hour of the hearing.
