Every attack by the terrorist group NSU was also an attack on the open, free society. That’s why a central, easily accessible place of remembrance is so important.
Nobody wants to offend the relatives of the NSU victims. This has happened long enough. For years, their suggestions that it could only be right-wing radicals who murdered their fathers, brothers and sons were brushed aside as fantasies. For years they themselves were suspected of having something to do with the murders. If the Federal Republic sets about creating a memorial for the victims in the year 24 after the first murder by the right-wing extremist terrorist gang NSU, then the relatives must have a say.
