Every December, theater ensembles from all over Poland travel to Krakow. They play on various stages in the city for about a week; the “Divine Comedy” festival has been running since 2008. A look at last year’s program and the preview for this year shows: Nobody here is dwelling on the classics or on the question of what the old pieces say about the present. There is only the present, only newly written dramas. Last year, every piece seemed to be a commentary on the current political situation in Poland. Or at least his story. But that too is constantly up to date and is constantly being renegotiated.
