The photo of the fugitive suspected of two murders released by the investigators

The Angers prosecutor’s office released his photo on Monday evening. A few hours after a press conference given by the prosecutor, the portrait of the man on the run was sent to the editorial staff. Investigators hope that the wide distribution of the photo will quickly find the trace of this 40-year-old man. On the run since June 22, this man is suspected of having killed a woman in Angers on June 22, then a motorist in Chailland (Mayenne) on July 1. He also allegedly tried to strangle a woman in the same town a few days earlier. ” Since yesterday [dimanche]we have fairly certain hypotheses which tell us that all these facts are connected, ”assured the public prosecutor of Angers Eric Bouillard.

The investigators are looking for a man measuring 1.85 m, “of mixed race type, athletic build with curly black hair” from Reunion. Anyone with items is invited to contact 0800 877 668 (or, in an emergency, 17) to report them. It is especially inadvisable to seek to intervene, indicates the search notice.

The manhunt had started after Adelaide’s murder in Angers. The 40-year-old woman was found dead at her home on June 22, showing obvious signs of strangulation. The investigation was directed towards an acquaintance, a priori a friend of the ex-spouse, who had been on the run since a permission granted by the prison of Argentan (Orne). On Wednesday June 28, a motorist was the target of a strangulation attempt in the town of Chailland, where the funeral of Adelaide had been celebrated.

A “high level of danger”

It is in this same commune of Mayenne that a 72-year-old man was found dead on Saturday July 1, after his burned vehicle was found in Maine-et-Loire. “He is an isolated and rather helpless person”, indicates the public prosecutor, who points to his “high level of dangerousness”. The man was serving a 12-year prison sentence for attempted spousal murder. He had obtained permission to carry out administrative procedures for which he never presented himself. Research is currently focused on the Angers sector.
