The party, without a ball or fireworks, returns for the first time since the tragedy

The party is sober in Crépol, but it is back. The first festivities in the Drôme village since the death of Thomas on November 19, 2023, will take place this weekend, indicates France Bleu Drôme Ardèche. The town’s animation committee mentions a “difficult decision to make” in the leaflet announcing the event, but assures that it has obtained the agreement of the parents of the teenager stabbed on the sidelines of the last winter ball. Several tributes will also be paid to the young man.

The traditional Scarecrow Festival, celebrated for thirty years, will therefore take place this weekend. But without a ball or fireworks. The festivities will take place over two days instead of three, and white armbands will be on sale at free price. The money collected will be donated to the association helping victims of Drôme.

In Crépol, “life goes on” but “nothing will erase this tragedy”, confided the mayor, Martine Lagut, to France Bleu Drôme Ardèche. Laure Barnard, the president of the Crépol animation committee, admits that “it’s going to be hard”. “We have prepared our floats for the parade, but we will think hard of Thomas and the victims. I think it will be good for everyone to get together,” she hopes.
