Why did Princess Kate need surgery?
As Kensington Palace has now made public, according to the Mirror, the 42-year-old is not being treated for cancer. Rebecca English, royal expert for the Daily Mail, also explained on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) why journalists had previously described the Princess of Wales’ health problems as “non-cancerous”. The reason is that royal employees are happy to share this information publicly “to minimize public concern about her condition.”
However, it has not yet been revealed what Prince William’s (41) wife is suffering from. It is official that the wife of the heir to the British throne had to undergo abdominal surgery and is currently in a London hospital. As Kensington Palace announced on January 17th via Instagram, among other things, this was said to have been a “planned” operation.

“Personal medical information” should remain private
The operation was successful and Her Royal Highness is expected to remain in the hospital for 10 to 14 days before continuing her recovery at home. The doctors also believe that Princess Kate will not appear in public again until after Easter. The royal family also said that Kate would like her “personal medical information to remain private.”
Kensington Palace will therefore only report on Princess Kate’s condition again if there is important new information. “The Princess of Wales would like to apologize to all those affected for having to postpone her upcoming appointments,” it continued. She is already looking forward to catching up on as many appointments as possible soon. According to the “Daily Mail”, a palace spokesman announced beyond the official statement that Princess Kate is currently in The London Clinic, where, among others, Prince Philip (1921-2021) was treated several times.
