The painter Joseph Mader: In search of traces of a missing person – Dachau

He is one of the “lost” artists. Emerging as a young German artist, but then suppressed during the Nazi era, like so many promising talents of his generation: Joseph Maderborn in Landshut in 1905, attended the School of Applied Arts in Munich, was awarded the Albrecht Dürer Prize and will also be awarded Max Beckman compared, who is today one of the most important visual artists of classical modernism of the 20th century – and yet Mader’s art remained in the background for many decades.
