As a painter, stage designer, theater and opera director, Achim Freyer wanted to imbue his artistic feelings and actions with a series of “commandments”, his personal set of rules. Commandment three is: “Resist your habits” – Reason: “For what was good yesterday is already a lie today.” Freyer, the advocate of dialectics, shows himself to be a lover of contradiction in open thinking. The last of his directives invents the risk: “Forget all this and contradict!”
