The opening game of the 2022 World Cup is well advanced by a day

The World Cup changes dates. Barely three months before the start of the 2022 World Cup, FIFA announced that it had brought forward the start of the tournament by one day, to November 20, to allow Qatar to play the opening match. An announcement confirming the information published in the press on Wednesday. This change respects the custom of the host country opening its own edition, and has done so since 2006. The kick-off of the first meeting of group A will take place at 8 p.m., at Al-Bayt Stadium in Al Khor .

Initially, Qatar was to play its first match of the tournament on November 21, at 5 p.m., against Ecuador, after England-Iran (2 p.m.). Scheduled for that day at 11 a.m., the Senegal – Netherlands match is thus moved to 5 p.m.
