The Olchinger Krippenfreunde dissolve – Fürstenfeldbruck

Olching will lose an active club and a tradition that has become dear: the carving and crib friends will dissolve at the end of the year. This was announced by the second chairman, Max Gassenhuber. He was one of the founding members together with his wife Gabriele in 1984, when a carving course became a traditional arts and crafts association.

Year after year – the picture is from 2012 – the Olching crib friends set up their large community work in front of the Catholic Church during Advent.

Up to 40 members used to come together on Mondays to carve in the rectory. The main purpose of the association was the Christmas crib, for example in the form of the great community work that was set up in front of the Catholic Church every year, or recurring exhibitions. That’s over now. The reason is obvious: “We are still 25 and have an average age of 80,” says Gassenhuber.
