Israel announced Monday that the obligation to wear a protective mask against Covid-19 in closed public places would be lifted as of Tuesday. It was one of the last sanitary measures in force in the Jewish state.

At the beginning of June, the country had already relaxed restrictions on its inhabitants. Visitors arriving from abroad are always subject to drastic measures. Israel is thus closed to non-nationals, with the exception of those having exemptions for compelling professional or family reasons.

A vaccination campaign in partnership with Pfizer

A fortnight is imposed on any traveler arriving in the country. This can end as soon as a serological test proves that the vaccination or immunity is sufficient for the person.

At the end of December, the country launched a vast vaccination campaign thanks to an agreement with Pfizer. Millions of doses have been delivered in exchange for data on the effects of vaccination, with the country having a digital medical database on its population.

More than five of 9.3 million Israelis (55% of the population) received both doses of the vaccine. Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, more than 839,000 people have been infected and 6,428 have died, according to figures from the Ministry of Health.
