The number of jobseekers has never been so low in Europe since 1998

No more room for doubt, Europe has been experiencing a real economic rebound since last spring. The unemployment rate in the euro zone reached its lowest level in twenty-four years in December 2021, i.e. 7% of the active population. An increase of 0.1% compared to last November.

For the European Union as a whole, unemployment also reached a historic low of 6.4%, its lowest level since the start of the statistical series in January 2000. Compared to December 2020, the number of unemployed fell by 2.20 million people in the EU and by 1.83 million in the euro area.
