The number of intensive care admissions continues to increase

The number of patients with Covid-19 in intensive care continued to increase on Saturday even if the number of hospital admissions has declined a little over the last 24 hours, according to data published on Saturday by Public Health France. The number of patients in intensive care has been rising steadily since the lowest recorded on January 7 (2,573 patients). They were 4,791 on Saturday against 4,766 the day before. The number of patients admitted to intensive care had peaked on November 16 at 4,903 patients at the height of the second wave of the epidemic.

Nearly 200 dead in 24 hours

In the past 24 hours, ICU admissions have slowed slightly to 332 patients compared to 476 the day before. The total number of people hospitalized in France because of the coronavirus was 27,259 on Saturday, including 1,567 new admissions in 24 hours. On Friday alone, 2,048 new patients had been registered. In 24 hours, 194 patients died in hospital as a result of Covid-19.
