For the first time since the beginning of April, the number of hospitalized coronavirus patients dropped back below 30,000 on Wednesday, while the number of patients in intensive care is still flirting with 5,900,
according to figures from Public Health France.
Critical care services (which bring together resuscitation, intensive care and continuous monitoring) numbered 5,879 people on Wednesday, including 349 new patients admitted in the past 24 hours.
More than 6 million French people fully vaccinated
Since April 12, the number of Covid-19 patients hospitalized in these services has been close to 6,000 patients. A figure below the peak of the first wave in April 2020 (around 7,000) but higher than that of the second wave in the fall (4,900). The number of Covid patients in the hospital is now 29,911, including 1,708 new hospitalizations in the last 24 hours. This total had not fallen below the 30,000 mark since April 5. 324 Covid patients have died in hospital in the past 24 hours.
In 24 hours, the number of confirmed positive cases is 31,539. Over the past seven days, this gives a daily average of 27,000 positive cases. In addition, according to vaccination figures released Wednesday evening by the Ministry of Health, 14.9 million people received at least one injection, of which more than 6 million were fully vaccinated with their two doses (or 9% of the total population and 11.5% of the adult population).
