The number of hospitalizations continues to fall in France

Hospitals had 24,431 Covid patients, according to data from Public Health France published on Wednesday. This is less than the day before, when French health establishments had 24,703, and even less than a week ago (25,179). Among them, 1,658 were in critical care units (including 168 admissions), which receive the most serious cases, against 1,667 the day before and 1,677 on April 20.

Health authorities are also reporting 67,711 new cases of SARS-CoV2 virus contamination. The average of infections over the last seven days, which smooths out statistical jolts, stands at 73,016 against 94,565 a week ago.

A total of 54.32 million people have received at least one dose of vaccine (80.6% of the population) and 53.42 million are fully vaccinated (79.2% of the population). The epidemic has caused the death of 147 people in twenty-four hours, bringing the total number of deaths in France to 145,579 in more than two years.
