“The Night Manager” continues: The BBC and Amazon’s streaming service Prime Video have announced that the British-American thriller series will return for two new seasons. Filming is scheduled to begin later this year, according to the announcement. The series – inspired by the characters from John le Carré’s (1931-2020) bestseller “The Night Manager” – premiered in 2016.

New seasons of the BBC-commissioned series will air on Prime Video worldwide outside the UK. Hollywood star Tom Hiddleston (43, “Loki”) is there again in his role as Jonathan Pine. The new episodes will take place eight years after the finale of season one. The script for “The Night Manager” comes from series creator David Farr (54), Georgi Banks-Davies will direct all six episodes of the second season. According to the announcement, Hugh Laurie (64, “Dr. House”) will be involved as an executive producer.

First season was well received

Tom Hiddleston says in the announcement of the new episodes: “The first season of ‘The Night Manager’ was one of the most creative projects I have ever worked on.” The actor added: “The depth, the range and the complexity” of Jonathan Pine is still an “exciting prospect” for him. He can’t wait to “tell the next chapter of our story.”

The first season of “The Night Manager” won several Golden Globes – including Tom Hiddleston’s award for Best Actor in a Miniseries. In addition to him, Hugh Laurie, Olivia Colman (50), Tom Hollander (56) and Elizabeth Debicki (33) also appeared in the series about the night manager of a hotel who is infiltrated into the circle of an arms dealer. Colman and Laurie each won a Golden Globe in the supporting actor categories for their performances in the series.
