The new social network Bluesky: Blue Sky – Culture

Because Twitter is slipping to the right under Musk, everyone now wants to go to Bluesky. Those who have made it experience a tone that is consistently friendly and liberal. So: found a solution? It’s not that easy.

There was a lot of excitement on social media over the last long weekend. Now these platforms are programmed for excitement, but on the German-speaking Internet and especially on the market-leading short message service Twitter, the outrage curve was particularly steep. Twitter boss Elon Musk (who now calls the thing X) forwarded an anti-refugee tweet from Italy on Friday. It also said “Let’s hope the AfD wins the elections.” On Sunday he also said on Twitter that he had not supported any political party and had no idea who the AfD was. But that’s just how the internet works. Anyone who passes on the opinions of others makes them their own with all the trimmings. In the world of old media, this is called disseminator liability, and it is even justiciable. In any case, the effect was that hundreds of German-speaking Twitterati of left-wing, green or even just humanistic sentiments wanted to change networks and came across Bluesky.
