The Navigo pass subscription will increase to 86 euros in 2024

The Navigo pass subscription will increase again next year. Ile-de-France Mobilités (IDFM) is aiming for “2.6% increase in prices” for the Navigo pass by 2024, meaning for “users a contribution in line with inflation” planned for next year, declared its president Valérie Pécresse, Tuesday, during a press conference. Such an increase would increase the monthly price of the all-zone pass to around 86.30 euros, or 2.20 euros more than the current 84.10 euros. But the prices for next year will not be definitively set until December, when the 2024 budget of IDFM, the organizing authority for Ile-de-France transport, is voted on.

After the strong increase of 12% in this Navigo pass in 2023, with a 2.6% increase it would be a “price moderation” in 2024, estimated Ms. Pécresse, who spoke on the occasion of the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the State on the financing of public transport in the Ile-de-France region over the period 2024-2031. The setting of prices for next year will depend on the outcome of negotiations with local authorities in Ile-de-France, the departments as well as the City of Paris, whose contribution to the IDFM budget should increase, as well as that of the Ile region. -de-France, chaired by Ms. Pécresse. “I am counting on the departments, on the City of Paris. The region will make this effort” in order to “serve price moderation”, she declared, emphasizing that “the contribution of users depends” on this agreement with local authorities.

IDFM would thus have 800 million euros more in 2024

Both signatories on Tuesday of the 2024-2031 financing protocol, the Minister for Transport, Clément Beaune, and Ms. Pécresse described this document as a “historic agreement”. It is a “necessary and exemplary” agreement, which “guarantees the stability and serenity of financing” of IDFM and “a fair agreement because everyone makes an effort according to their abilities”, noted Mr. Beaune. “The State gives the tools” to IDFM and “we are moving away from the annual logic of the budgetary yo-yo that is good for no one,” he said. “We are starting today on extremely solid foundations,” judged Ms. Pécresse. “Price moderation was the common thread of this negotiation,” she insisted.

In addition to the increase in prices on the user side and the increase in the contribution of local authorities, this memorandum of understanding provides for an increase in the mobility payment (a tax) from Parisian companies and the inner suburbs and an increase in the tourist tax. At the same time, the fee paid by IDFM to the Société du Grand Paris will be reduced. In total, IDFM would thus have 800 million euros more in 2024. This is the sum “that we need next year in addition,” pointed out Ms. Pécresse. “The increase in the Navigo pass, even limited, will represent an effort for Ile-de-France residents in this period of inflation and must therefore result in an improvement in the service provided,” judged the Presidential Majority group at the Ile-de regional council. -France. The communist group, for its part, criticized the increase in prices for users and “keeps on the table its concrete proposals to freeze prices and strengthen IDFM’s revenues”.
