The successor to Marine Le Pen at the head of the National Rally will be elected by a vote of the members by electronic ballot and the result will be announced at the party congress to be held on November 5 in Paris.
The National Council of the RN meeting on Monday “approved the calendar and the electoral protocol” of this 18th party congress, said David Rachline in a press release.
Application possible until September
According to this calendar, the modalities of candidacy for the presidency and the National Council of the RN will be published on Friday. September 9 is the deadline for receipt of nominations for the presidency and nominations for the National Council.
The list of candidates will be published on September 19 and electronic voting will begin on September 30, for one month, until the closing of votes on November 3. The results will be announced two days later, during the congress on Saturday 5 November.
Acting Bardella
The finalist in the second round of the presidential election won by Emmanuel Macron in 2017 and 2022 has decided to give up the head of the party to devote herself to the presidency of the RN group in the National Assembly.
Jordan Bardella, interim president until September, has expressed his wish to remain in his post. Louis Aliot, vice-president of the RN and mayor of Perpignan, could also be a candidate.
“A winning team”
Jordan Bardella placed his candidacy on Tuesday under the sign of continuity, arguing that “we do not change a winning team”.
“I think that the work that we have done with Marine Le Pen together, since she entrusted me with the interim presidency last September, is a path that allows us to cultivate this ambition of victory and that we must pursue”, explained on BFMTV the MEP.
