If you want to know how people with Long Covid are doing in Germany, the best thing to do is to join one of the countless online self-help groups. From all corners of the country, those for whom Covid did not simply pass by after the acute illness have now zoomed together. The group that Silke, 48, founded, for example, sees each other every Wednesday at 6 p.m. 19 screen tiles when everyone is there. 19 people in their bedrooms or snuggled up on the living room sofa, with a teacup in hand or a pendulum wall clock in the background. Most of them had Corona sometime in 2020, a few in 2021. Almost all of them have been on sick leave for months or are currently in reintegration programs, some have already retired, and a few are still working or working again, as far as this is possible.
