The Munich laughing and shooting society is again without a managing director – Munich

Christian Schultz actually only wanted to officially announce shortly beforehand that he would be giving up his position as managing director of the Laughing and Shooting Society at the end of the month. However, this was leaked earlier, as was the fact that Schultz also gave up his shares in the company to his co-partner Ullrich Spandau. It was only in July that the two of them took over the “shop”, as the almost 70-year-old Schwabing institution associated with the names Sammy Drechsel and Dieter Hildebrandt was often called, after the old company went bankrupt. Many newspapers at the time wrote about “saving the laughing and shooting society”. Pretty premature. So now comes the next twist in the sometimes bizarre, avoidable, and in any case anything but funny story of the dismantling of a cultural lighthouse not only of Schwabing and Munich, but also of the Federal Republic and its democracy.
