The Munich Film Museum honors the filmmaker couple Straub/Huillet – Munich

Jean-Marie Straub died in his adopted country of Switzerland in November 2022, 16 years after his partner Danièle Huillet. The couple made films together for four decades, which were sometimes received very contrary. They began in Germany in the 1960s, and the Film Museum will also be showing “Not reconciled or It only helps where violence reigns” (1965) and “Chronicle of Anna Magdalena Bach” (1967) from this period in the coming days.

The three-day homage does not want to list the work of the two chronologically, but rather associatively and following the tracks that the films provide. Straub continued after the death of his wife, these films are also on the schedule. All screenings will be attended by producer and Straub’s second wife, Barbara Ulrich, and cameraman Christophe Clavert.
