The Munich Chamber Orchestra in the Schwer Reiter – Munich

This concert from the MKO Songbook series in the “Schwere Reiter” was also incredibly rich. Despite the concentration on the core string section of the Munich Chamber Orchestra, all the pieces had different characters. While the beginning with the last composition by Luigi Nono (“Hay que caminar soñando”) for violin duo (Nina Takai, Viktor Stenhjem) was harsh and brittle in every respect, Samir Odeh-Tamimi’s “Bukká” was incredibly fascinating, played again and again by the MKO since the premiere in 2003. The title could be translated as “Burned from the inside”, and the work spoke of that in every respect: with roughened, often scraping and scratching sounds, a fascinatingly dense, intense music of physical and mental pain was created that got under the skin walked and touched directly.
